J.E. Foster

Josh started J.E. FOSTER BUILDING COMPANY in August of 1997 after working for 5 years for McCarthy out of their St. Louis office. He was born and raised in Bedford, New Hampshire. Josh graduated with a BS in Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami in 1988. Following college, he went to work as a Project Engineer for a General Contractor in New Hampshire working on a Parking Garage, small Cogeneration Power Plant and a Retirement Community. Josh then traveled with a National Heavy Industrial GC as a Project Engineer building a Paper Mill for Champion Paper, a Steel Mill for Inland Steel and a large Power Plant for TVA. In 1993, Josh joined St. Louis based GC-McCarthy as a Superintendent and Project Manager at Washington University. He completed the new Student Union – Bookstore, the Washington University School of Law and the renovation of Brookings Hall. Josh has grown J.E. FOSTER BUILDING COMPANY from a one person operation to over thirty employees with $12 to $18 million in yearly revenue. Josh was awarded the Best GC Employee by the Midwest Council of the ASA in 2007. He is presently serving a two year term on the AGC of St. Louis’ Board of Directors through 2012. Josh’s goal has never been to be the largest GC but to always strive to be the best. He enjoys being close to the work and is personally familiar with every project that J.E. FOSTER BULDING COMPANY completes. Josh is married with two children, enjoys his family, skiing, golfing and resides in Kirkwood, MO.

Mark started his career in 1981 working for his Father’s carpentry subcontracting company. Mark learned the construction business from working in the field while attending school. Mark has lived and worked in the St. Louis area his entire career. By the age of 20, Mark was working for a local General Contractor bidding and managing his own projects. He has bid and managed several different types of projects – schools, churches, retail, tenant finish, airport work and commercial swimming pools. Mark joined J.E. FOSTER BUILDING COMPANY in 2004. He was looking for a young General Contracting business where an individual’s personality can have an effect on the company and its direction. Mark believes that having a Father that was a subcontractor has helped him in successfully being able to see all perspectives of a construction project. Mark lives in Columbia, IL with his wife and four daughters.

Donna has been employed with J.E. Foster since 2000. She handles all accounting functions, payroll, contract management, bid invitations, human resources, safety and insurance administration, and general office support. Born in St. Louis, Donna has been involved in the industry since 1986. “Having a father who worked in the construction industry is probably what drew me to this field,” she says.

Over the years, she has developed strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers and lives by the motto, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” Donna is the mother of two sons. She enjoys estate sales, home improvement projects, gardening, and reading.
