Wm. Bronner & Son Contractors, Inc. has been a part of Mid-Michigan for over 125 years.  Our President, Matt Bronner has over 20 years experience in construction and design, and together our staff has over 85 years of experience in the construction business.  Our dedication to our work has always been focused on providing the best quality and performance for our customers.

History

John Bronner started his construction career as a stonecutter at  a stone quarry located in the hills of Pfaffenhofen, Germany, his hometown, located on the northern edge of the Black Forest.  John became an apprentice stone mason, and eventually earned the title of Master Stone Mason.

In 1883, he immigrated to America and settled in Frankenmuth, MI where he started his business as a Masonry Contractor.  John taught three of his sons, Richard, Herman, and William the masonry trade, and eventually the firm was known as John Bronner & Sons All Kinds of Brick, Stone, and Cement Work.  Upon his retirement, the brothers continued in the trade and the business became known as Bronner Brothers Masonry Contractors.  The majority of their work was in the residential area, but also worked on many commercial and institutional projects.

At a very early age, Ron, the son of William, worked with his Dad and Uncles and became a journeyman brick and stone mason.  After completing two years of study in Building Construction Technology and two years of Military duty, Ron joined his father and uncles in the business.  Upon the retirement of Richard and Herman, the firm became know as William Bronner & Son Masonry Contractors.

In the early 1960’s the company ventured into general contracting, and in 1969 the business was incorporated and became known as Wm Bronner & Son Contractors, Inc., as it is to this day.  In 1981, Matt Bronner, Ron’s son, started working with his Dad in construction and learned the carpentry trade.  After studying Building Construction Management at Triton College in Chicago, he joined Ron in the business in 1990.  Matt is now the president of the company, and represents the fourth generation of Bronners in the business.  Dave Kiel, Ron’s son-in-law, joined the company in 1998.  After serving in the Marine Corps for 4 years and earning a Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, he is now a project manager and has brought the company into the “Computer Age.”

In the last 45 years, our company has completed over 50 churches and church related projects, along with schools, healthcare facilities, and many commercial and industrial projects.

Our company performs all the masonry, concrete, and carpentry work on a project and all the other trades are sub-contracted.  Honesty, Experience, Quality & Value, Timeliness, High Ethical Standards, Consistency, Financial Stability and Trust, have led to a History of Success.  This philosophy, along with the careful workmanship and attention to detail, result in a quality product for the customer.
