Scope Of Work

Previous to its remodel, this kitchen was described as an 80’s shaker style trapped in a house that screamed “contemporary” in its architecture.  It was painfully dated and very much out of character.  The homeowners wanted to push the contemporary limits of the kitchen with a high gloss flat panel Euro design.  Enter custom cabinetry.

Most challenges were worked out between the designer and homeowner before we received the plans.  However, we had a few challenges of our own.  In order to achieve what the homeowner wanted, it was decided to use a high-gloss polyester Luxe material.  One challenge presented was the fact that the homeowners did not want to see any seam between the door material and the edgebanding.  Although this is always a goal, it is especially difficult to achieve with this material, and with any light colored cabinets.   To overcome this, we utilized a high-tech edgebander which fused the door and edgebanding so well that no seam is detectible.  The kitchen is truly seamless, as they wanted.

Another challenge was that the homeowners wanted to keep their old appliances….which they no longer had the specs for.  Our top guys were on it!  They expertly measured, ensuring the cabinets would fit flush the first time.

The old island offered no seating area, and a lot of it’s usable counter space was taken up by the sink.  The new island was turned sideways so it could extend outside of the kitchen area.  This allowed for a longer counter that would accommodate a sitting and eating area and more usable space since the sink didn’t take up such a large percentage of it.  The sink was conveniently placed at the end of the island for ease of access. Storage was maximized with full-length drawers.

In addition, low-profile handles enhance the sleek minimalistic look of this kitchen.

Rather than being an outdated embarrassment, this kitchen epitomizes everything the house needed: a major contemporary update with a “wow” factor.  The homeowners were thrilled, and felt like everything they wanted their kitchen to be and have was achieved.
