Scope Of Work

Renovation of 2500 square feet of existing offices and classrooms into a media production and innovation hub that connects with the local and global community.

It is a collaborative, welcoming environment for idea generation, learning experiences and growth opportunities where students create physical and digital media projects. Interns who work in the space are knowledge facilitators who work to create new projects and possibilities with others. The Inc is led by faculty from the Department of Communication and the Department of English, Language and Literatures. The Inc provides students with opportunities to: gain creative skills, pioneer new media products and genres, engage with local industries, and showcase their work.

Providing an opportunity to combine theoretical training with hands-on media production is critical to students’ success. The Inc is an innovative and welcoming space where this kind of opportunity happens. The studio and control room are where students get hands-on training with professional production equipment and processes. The editing suites are equipped with industry standard technologies where students learn post-production techniques and hone their storytelling craft. The conversation areas facilitate collaboration, feedback sessions, networking, and showcasing of student projects. The Inc embodies creativity, critical thinking, mentorship and opportunities for real-world experiences through a humanities based approach.

Students use the Incubator to create long and short form marketing spots, documentaries, podcasts, news segments, cultural programs, and other projects. This media-rich collaborative environment is an ideal venue for campus-community engagement through mutually beneficial learning experiences and events.
