Our Story

A professional builder is one capable of everything from civil, commercial, and industrial type structures to occupied structures such as resorts or custom homes.  DORN Engineering & Development LLC is a family owned company proudly showcasing these capabilities.

The company was founded in 2009 as a self-performing multifaceted company capable of small to large civil, commercial, and residential projects ranging in single project values of $500 - $5 million plus.  When work does require subcontractors, only those who share our high ethical standards and professional demeanor are utilized.  Small contractual works are as highly regarded as the larger more sophisticated projects performed.

Our main line of business began with an emphasis on civil construction focused around excavating, grading, soil stabilization, and various structural repairs.  We have since established equal concentration toward new building envelope construction, interior tenant improvements, and repairs on many different types of existing structures.  Specific examples include cmu block walls, wood frame up, steel erection, concrete demolition, concrete cutting and grinding, concrete placement, stucco, painting, and other finishes.  Residential projects are accepted on a selective basis as we have recently fulfilled contracts to perform construction of custom homes.

DORN Engineering & Development values highly the commodity of time required to build a trust worthy reputation as well as the consistent execution standards imperative for maintaining it.  Operating with a long term perspective we strive to complete projects in a fashion exceeding clientele's expectations earning referral for future business.  We understand that our client's main intention with every project is meeting or beating the original project budget avoiding costly change orders.  To achieve this goal we work beside our client's to recognize any possible unforeseen circumstances often offering free engineered consultations during the proposal process or before the project begins.

These upfront conversations at the project planning stage typically assist in avoiding surprises that may arise during the performance of construction.  Many competing contractors attempt to undercut our initial proposal costs only to make up for it with a surprise change order strategy during the life of the project.  In sharp contrast to this we strive to provide upfront pricing on our original proposal to begin a partnership with our clients based on an ethical foundation of mutual trust.  This allows clients to know what the actual cost of their projects will be and greatly minimizes the possibility of surprise change orders due to unforeseen conditions.  Typically all our work is warranted beyond state required standards using only the highest quality of manufactured back product lines.

As a growth oriented SBE certified business we seek to form ethically founded partnerships with in and out of state large General Contractors.  In these relationships we provide our construction management services and or our self-performing construction capabilities as a subcontractor.  Previous coordination efforts on such terms include but are not limited to companies such as Ashton Contractors, Morcon Construction, and Smith Construction Management.
