What We Do

Cheval Construction Group is a full-service Texas general contractor. We provide quality construction management for hotels, retail buildings, apartment complexes, office space, custom residences and more. We have four main service offerings:

• New Construction – We take raw land and create new buildings.
• Buildouts – We convert a building shell into customized new space.
• Renovations – We update an old building to look and function like new.
• Architectural Finishing – We develop custom retail and home experiences.

Who We Are

Cheval Construction Group is owned and by John Sotolongo who has been at the forefront of the Texas construction industry since 1995.

Why the Name “Cheval”

The word “cheval” means horse in French. For centuries, horses are revered for their majesty and strength. “When it was time to come up with a name and logo for our company that embodied the quality of our construction work, the analogy to the strength and beauty of horses seemed a natural fit.”

We’re based in Navasota, Texas but do work in Houston, Dallas and throughout Texas. We also take on projects in other states.

Our History

In the 1980s John Sotolongo and his family began opening upscale video stores in various locations around Texas. Unhappy with the quality of construction on the buildouts of their stores, they soon began designing and building the stores themselves. By 1995 they were being asked to build retail stores for others, which soon blossomed into renovations and construction of offices, apartment buildings and custom homes. Cheval Construction Group was born.

Certifications

Cheval Construction Group is EPA lead certified, allowing us to safely renovate properties that contain lead paint.We also are Leed certified and believe green construction is the wave of the future. We choose recycled materials whenever possible and make design recommendations for maximum energy efficiency.
