Our Story

AEI Subsurface was established in 1973, and from day one, this companies philosophy was its driving force: strive for the best project quality and client satisfaction we could possibly achieve.  We began providing site work for residential homes in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.  In the late 80’s and early 90’s the focus of work shifted to road construction, subsurface utility installations and residential estates.

Through the 30+ years of underground exploration, a tremendous amount of knowledge has been accumulated dealing with subsurface infrastructure and installation techniques. These existing subsurface utilities  that have minimal if any reference documentation and unreliable location information. And most importantly we recognized the the basic issues facing traditional "One Call" locating companies as Aubin Excavating, Inc. experienced misfortunes at the hand of inferior locating techniques. Due to the damage potential of existing utilities that have no record as well as the inaccuracies of any plans available (if any are even supplied), we acquired the technology and knowledge needed to establish a subsurface investigation/geophysical survey division.

In 2006, AEI Corporation was created to assist clients in effectively mapping the existing infrastructure, utilizing state-of-the-art geophysical instrumentation and vacuum excavating along with our vast knowledge of infrastructure installation techniques to provide a safe and cost effective subsurface investigation process. As the need for due diligence in underground exploration grows, we created the means to make utility investigation a reliable, effective operation. It is the goal of AEI to produce sound solutions to engineering and planning problems associated with subsurface design, while keeping in mind the best interests of the client and maintaining the highest level of professional ethics, quality control and engineering practices. By combining our education, training, experience and talent, each of us supplies a very important element of the final product.  We appreciate your interest!
