SHADE Industries originated when the founder was working at a shade company that specialized in shade structures in 1994. Through the years he felt there must be a better way to provide shade where people wanted it, rather than setting a square over a space and calling it shaded. Through research, he learned about shade sails and other types of tensioned fabric shade structures. Several years later, he formed Shade Central, LLC., now SHADE Industries. SHADE Industries specializes in providing beautiful, functional shade, where and when the client wants it. We design, fabricate, and install the finest shade sails, tensioned fabric shade structures, patio shade covers, architectural shades, and shade canopies in Arizona and elsewhere. We use AutoCAD, Adobe applications, and SketchUp software programs to assist with design and fabrication. After determining where shade is needed, we discuss the times of day and year that may have more importance. SHADE Industries’ focus has always been on custom shade sails, but we also offer shade structures, lace-on panels, awnings and permanent umbrellas (gorillaBrella). We have found that by offering many different products we can fulfill most shade needs. SHADE Industries sales managers meet with clients to discuss project requirements and design ideas. We then use 3D drawings to assist with design and convey our ideas to our clients. In almost every case, we fabricate our own steel and specify the sewing of our shade cloth. Our base shade cloth is 10oz HDPE warrantied for 10 years against sun degradation (many of our competitors use only 7oz). We use only Tenara thread which is the standard to which all other PTFE threads are compared (some competitors don’t use PTFE thread at all). Tenara thread is warrantied for 10 years against sun degradation. Our seams are quadruple lock-stitched and our edge pockets are triple lock-stitched. We are not aware of any instance in which one of our seams has split since switching to Tenara in 2005. When appropriate, we use stainless steel cable and stainless steel thimble D-rings to help prevent cable fatigue. On most all public projects, we install backup cables that are designed to support the sail structure in the unlikely event there is a hardware failure (since we began this process in 2008, we have not had a failure). Our own experienced employees install the products. By controlling all aspects of the process, SHADE Industries is able to provide a better product to our customers, improve scheduling times and keep pricing low. Headquartered in Tucson, with our manufacturing and testing facility located in Phoenix, our products are manufactured in the USA. We strive to be an environmentally friendly company. We attempt to complete installations and designs that will be low impact to the surrounding environment and have implemented policies regarding recycling and limiting waste.
