Our Story

Our Story,

In 1959, my grandfather an insightful entrepreneur, knew that businesses and residential consumers were becoming increasingly aware of the need and desire for better quality water. With his perception, he purchased our generation #1 water treatment business, a Culligan Water franchise in Beverly Hills, California.

During this period and after leaving the United States Air Force, my father went to work for a dealership owned by Culligan International Company, in Anaheim, California. he learned the operation from the ground floor up, running water softener routes and inheriting business techniques from the inside out. After much success, he then went to work for Culligan as a Technical Service Engineer. From 1965-1967, heassisted independent Culligan dealers with plant operations and technical assistance on water treatment systems throughout the Southeast. Then on October 31st 1967, after one last stint at Northbrook, Illinois headquarters, my parents purchased our generation #2 Culligan dealership in La Jolla, California.

In 1991, I came to work at the La Jolla dealership. With my introduction, I brought a marketing degree and sales/marketing experience obtained from Russell Stover Chocolates and Knorr Swiss. I too learned the business from the ground floor up; all the while threading my sales experience into every aspect of the business. My tenacity and incite ensured the company's growth. In 2000, I purchased the franchise and in 2010, I received a C36 plumbing license. With the new license in hand and completing 3 generations of water treatment expertise I had plans; I also recognized that there had been many changes within the water treatment industry, corporate mergers and franchise developments. At that time I made the important decision to become an independent water treatment delaer, therefore, severing ties with Culligan International Company.

Today, Coast Water Conditioning & Plumbing is a non-franchised representative of Hellenbrand Water Systems located in Waunakee, Wisconsin.
