Our Story

Cord Contracting Co. Inc. is one of the leading interior construction firms in the New York metropolitan area. A family-owned business for more than 70 years, Cord is expert in all facets of commercial and high-end interior construction, including acoustic ceilings, drywall, FRG, millwork, doors and frames, hardware and light gauge steel framing.

Founded in 1946 and Still Family-owned!

Cord has earned a reputation for swiftly and reliably bringing high-profile, high-pressure projects to completion. It is a reputation that is earned every day on job sites throughout the region. That is where Cord’s expert union carpenters and other tradesmen — many of whom have been part of the Cord family for decades — apply their skills with the pride of true master craftsmen. Whether the job involves commercial or retail space, a hospital, museum, theatre or transportation hub, Cord’s attention to detail is what keeps the firm growing in both size and stature.

A Point of Pride

A lot has changed since our father and grandfather Irving started this business. Building materials have advanced. Tools and technologies have improved. Construction codes have evolved.

But some things haven’t changed at all. We still believe that honesty and hard work are the foundation of any successful business. We believe that you are only as good as your last project, so every job you do had better be your best. And we believe in the importance of treating every one of our employees with the respect they deserve as members of the Cord family. After all, when our clients place their trust in us, we count on our people to care about the finished product just as much as we do.

We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish, and of the many dozens of New York landmarks we’ve had a hand in: from Radio City Music Hall to Gracie Mansion to the Statue of Liberty and much more. But what we really consider a point of pride is that we do the same high-quality work whether it’s a museum, a retail store, a commercial office or a luxury residential building.

That’s our pledge to you. Whatever your needs, you can count on Cord to get the job done right.
