You will normally be charged by any contractor for their time attempting to find the problem when your electrical system isn’t working the way it should. If they can’t find the problem, you are most often still billed for the effort. If they’ve narrowed down the problem, but haven’t pinpointed it exactly, you are often billed for unnecessary parts and labor.
