Scope Of Work
Brekhus Tile & Stone along with Brekhus Marble & granite did the restoration, fabrication, and installation of all of the slabs in the Union Station Restoration & remodel project.
Removing, re-enforcing, re-finishing and re-installing marble that was mined in the late 1800’s presented several challenges, including sourcing new marble from the Yule mine in southern Colorado to match the original material. Our expert team led by our owners, Jeff & Kym Brekhus, executed restoration at a level second to none. We are proud to have completed this project preserving installation techniques used over a century ago.
In order to replace the marble cladding for the inside for Union Station, Brekhus Tile had to exercise extreme care in the removal and handling of the marble slabs – many of which were labeled with writing from the 19th century. Brekhus cleaned and smoothed each slab and is in the process of replacing marble cladding on the walls of the newly remodeled Union Station.
