Scope Of Work
Completed in the middle of the Great Depression, the Thomas Jefferson was once considered among the finest Southern hotels. In its glory days, the TJ hosted politicians and celebrities alike, including Frank Sinatra and legendary Alabama Coach Bear Bryant.
These days, the building is being repurposed into 96 apartments, a cornerstone for development at the west end of Birmingham’s Central Business District. Intricate terra cotta ceilings, ornate marble and fine Italian Renaissance style will be restored to their former beauty, adding ground floor retail, second-floor dining/event space and residences to the downtown mix. Historic tax credits and a little elbow grease made this landmark adaptive reuse project possible.
