Growing up with dyslexia instilled in me a work ethic and the ability to problem solve by thinking outside the box and developing unique people skills. Perseverance and determination allowed me to overcome my academic hurdles all the way to a Master’s Degree at George Mason, where I worked closely with Dr. Stephen Fuller (Regional Center of Analysis). Dr. Fuller taught me how to be an efficient researcher and excellent academic and professional writer. In addition, to a strong understanding of research and writing skills, over the course of my career I have developed a unique set of skills that sets me apart from others in the real estate community. In 2010, I interned at WTTG Fox 5, where I worked under News Director Phil Metlin who taught me the importance of how to frame a story. While at Fox, I learned that even the most remarkable story would not get traction unless you packaged it the right way and knew how to communicate your message to the general public.
After my college graduation, I ran Fairfax County Supervisor Michael Frey’s reelection campaign in 2011 where I organized 500 high school students from the local high schools to knock over 50,000 doors for Supervisor Frey and other campaigns. Following this experience, I was instrumental in the Dulles Rail Now efforts and saving the extension of the Silver Line to Loudoun County. During this campaign, I used my position in the party to gain access to all of the Loudoun County Supervisors since they were all Republicans.
Following the completion of the Loudoun Rail Now campaign, I joined the small lobby shop Thompson Advisory Group. While there, I learned how Washington works, the importance of effective grant writing, the legislative and regulatory process and how to get objectives accomplished in a turbulent environment on Capitol Hill. After three years in the government affairs business, I decided to join Comstock Companies, because growing up in real estate, it had always been my true passion.
