PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Due to the need for the Playhouse to remain open as much as possible this project was completed in three phases. Phase one saw the demolition of the existing compromised plaster ceiling (4,500 square feet) and the installation of a temporary fabric ceiling. Phase two saw the repair of the root cause of the intake of moisture which was a poor drainage system. This included an additional four primary scuppers, 8 overflow scuppers, four downspouts to match the existing and crickets to direct the water to the drainage system. New roof covering was also installed. Phase three saw the removal of the temporary fabric ceiling and replaced with a new permanent fabric ceiling under Texas Historical Commission permit. Extra care had to be taken to reinstall original chandeliers, new friezes and faux box beams to match originals.
