Since the beginning of his career as a carpenter in the late 1960’s, Frank Trainor had a vision to create a construction company with a reputation for providing quality service, excellence and reliability. In 1979 he made that dream a reality by creating Commonwealth Building Inc. A number of years after incorporating in 1980, he began a relationship with a large Massachusetts based retail chain and CBI quickly became recognized as one of the preferred retail contractors in New England.

In 1984 CBI purchased a historically unique building, which after extensive renovations became our home office. This now allowed the company to be strategically located just minutes outside of the downtown Boston area to effectively service the entire New England area.

CBI continued to increase its client base by keeping its core values of providing clients with the highest standards of performance and personalized service. This commitment has given us the opportunity to work with many well established national accounts within the retail industry.

Over the years we have increased our employee base with talented Project Managers, Superintendents and skilled tradesmen who also maintain our core values and allow us to build on our philosophy. This also allows us to expand our capacity to service a broader market in the commercial industry.

We now have three divisions to better serve our clients: Commercial & Industrial, Retail, and Special Projects & Maintenance. Each division is committed to serving our client to the best of our ability. With our diverse knowledge and experience we are positioned to create solutions for all of our client’s individual needs. These elements reinforce our goal of maintaining and building long-lasting relationships.
