Lauren Della Bella's Bio
Lauren Della Bella, LEED AP, is a partner who has been with SHP Leading Design for more than 25 years. Since joining SHP in 1988, she has undertaken a variety of roles blending her planning and marketing expertise. She currently serves as SHP’s president, the first woman to hold that position in the firm.
With her entire career dedicated to the AEC industry, Della Bella’s achievements on SHP’s behalf have been extensive. She spearheaded the development of SHP’s nationally recognized community engagement process and developed Insite Magazine, an award-winning SHP publication. Under her leadership, the firm has become viewed as an authority on sustainability and 21st Century Educational Design. As the foundation of the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives, she guides the strategic vision of the firm, allowing the client-focused firm to also be viewed as a thought leader.
Her passion for design, education and planning is evidenced in her leadership roles in several industry groups. She currently is an Executive Board Member of the Design Futures Council, serves on the Cincinnati CEO Roundtable, and sits on the Board of Trustees for the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati. Her past involvement also includes board membership spanning civic, religious, educational and recreational organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Thomas Fernandez's Bio
Thomas Fernandez, AIA, LEED AP, has over 30 years of architecture experience, offering a broad base of experience in educational, healthcare, fitness and commercial facilities.
As SHP’s executive vice president, Fernandez leads the firm’s design initiatives, reviewing and critiquing all of its projects. His leadership led to the development of the firm’s Design Excellence process.
A member of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), as well as his active involvement in the American Institute of Architects (AIA), gives him a unique perspective that aids his work and positions him as a leader in the educational architecture and design field. In addition to his projects being recognized for design excellence, Fernandez has also served as a member of several design award juries.
As an active member in his community, Fernandez serves on the King’s Studio Board and the Ft. Thomas Board of Adjustments, as well as a volunteer for the Highland United Methodist Vision Team and Interfaith Hospitality.

Charlie Jahnigen's Bio
Charlie Jahnigen’s easy going style, combined with his active project involvement, makes him a sought after project manager. He has broad experience in all facets of pre-planning, design, documentation and construction. His work success includes education, healthcare and multi-family projects.
Charlie is passionate about sustainability and energy efficiency. He has been involved in some of the firm’s most successful sustainable projects, including leading the design of Ohio’s first LEED registered and LEED Silver Certified school, Pleasant Ridge Montessori, as well as reducing energy costs by more than 30 percent for the clients he serves. In addition to being a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and Green Umbrella, Jahnigen also attends a variety of LEED conferences and took part in the Cincinnati USA Green Business Mission to the Netherlands. He shares his learnings and professional experiences on sustainability and LEED design with industry partners and the firm through regular seminars and educational sessions.
He is also actively involved in the City of Wyoming’s Board of Building and Zoning Appeals, along with serving on the University Of Cincinnati College Of Engineering – School of Advanced Structures Advisory Board, the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science Alumni Board, and the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber Energy Environment Committee.

Dick Thomas's Bio
Dick Thomas, AIA, LEED AP, has a broad background of experience gained over his 30 years of diverse practice. In service to his clients, he has pioneered the delivery of planning and design work through an integrated team approach, capitalizing on technology advancements in software that have transformed the design and construction industry.
In order to facilitate an efficient design, construction and delivery process, Thomas was an early adopter of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. He was also a founding member of the firm’s integrated design and construction business, 2enCompass, and serves as the general manager. He continues to focus on trends impacting the architecture, engineering and construction industr, and is sought after to speak at events across the country on such topics.
Along with being a member of Autodesk’s IDEAS Advisory Board and Innovation Forums, Thomas is a presenting team member with Northern Kentucky Engaged Encounter.

Jeffrey Sackenheim's Bio
Jeffrey Sackenheim, AIA, LEEP AP, specializes in corporate and educational projects. His designs and clients benefit from the synergies of these two markets, showcasing concepts such as how office trends support collaborative educational designs, how educational designs impact corporate training solutions, and how office spaces can be designed for future generations. His expertise in the generational impact of design includes research with the University of Cincinnati.
Jeffrey’s enthusiasm for design is showcased by his work and his involvement in AIA Cincinnati (Vice President), as the Chair of the Cincinnati Design Awards, and as a member of Cincinnati Form Follows Function (CF3), a non-profit architectural and design group active in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. He is also a member of the firm’s Design Excellence Committee and has a passion for restoring historic structures.
Jeffrey’s leadership talents are recognized by his involvement in the ArtsWave BOARDway Bound Class of 2014, National MS Leadership Class of 2012, Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2011 and City of Cincinnati: Mark Mallory’s Young Professionals Kitchen Cabinet (2011).

Ronald Hicks's Bio
Ronald Hicks, AIA, LEED AP, has over 25 years of architecture experience. The breadth and depth of his expertise in all phases of architectural services—from design, to construction services, to facility management—brings a truly holistic perspective to his role as vice president of operations for SHP Leading Design.
In this position, he manages a team of field representatives that annually delivers $300 million in construction projects. He takes a personal interest in SHP’s most challenging fieldwork.
Hicks’ interest in complete project success led to SHP developing a facility management program to help clients transition from construction and project closeout, to maintenance and operation. He also identifies and facilitates guest lecturers on a number of topics as part of SHP’s continuing education programs for employees and clients.

Todd Thackery's Bio
Todd Thackery, AIA, LEED AP, is a vice president of architecture for SHP Leading Design. The longest standing partner at the firm, he has been providing design solutions and support to SHP clients since joining the firm in 1984. He has touched every facet of project development and delivery, from planning and stakeholder engagement, to design and management.
His customer focus enables him to deliver the firm’s trademark quality services, evident through the long-term relationships he has established with numerous SHP clients. He has delivered over $500 million in new or renovated projects and developed master plans for over 20 clients within the last 10 years.
Thackery is a noted contributor to the profession at-large through is involvement in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Council of Educational Facility Planning International (CEFPI). He is a frequent presenter on 21st Century learning at local and regional design conferences.
Thackery meshes his personal and professional passions though his volunteerism, including being vice president of the Brookville Redevelopment Commission and as a member of the Indiana Main Street Council.

Joanne Scott's Bio
Joanne Scott has been a member of SHP Leading Design for over 25 years and serves as the vice president of finance. She is responsible for leading the financial success of SHP. Her success is showcased by the firm’s nomination and award of PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence award for financial performance.
Joanne is active in the community, serving on the Alumnae Board of the Cincinnati USA’s Regional Chamber leadership program for women—WE Lead—after participating/graduating in the program’s fourth class. She has also served as President of the Hamilton Junior Women’s League and was past President of the Colleagues of Fort Hamilton Hospital.
