This museum is the new cultural heart of the campus. It houses
artwork from the university's permanent collection, hosts temporary
exhibitions, and presents educational programs and symposia. The
museum includes 16,000 sq. ft. (1,485 sq. m.) of galleries, a lecture
hall, a shop and a cafe.
The design creates skylights that
allow the museum to exhibit many of the works in natural light. All
ultraviolet light is filtered out, and light levels and colors are
carefully controlled by an array of large "petals" that
preferentially scatter light to display walls.
