Our Story

The Strength of Resources

Branscome is one of the largest heavy highway and general contracting companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. We offer our clients a full range of heavy construction services - from excavation and site work, to underground utilities, asphalt paving, ready-mix concrete, and materials supply. We own and operate 10 asphalt plants, five concrete plants, and five borrow sand and gravel operations, as well as stone facilities accessible by rail or deep water. And with more than 1,000 pieces of modern equipment, Branscome's well-maintained fleet of dump trucks, pavers, track loaders, backhoes, asphalt rollers, mixers, cranes and other heavy equipment is always ready to move. This wide range of local resources makes Branscome a key player in the Mid-Atlantic area's most challenging large-scale, fast-track projects.

Our corporate headquarters is located in Williamsburg, Virginia, with several branch offices in the cities of Richmond, Hampton, Tasley and Norfolk. Our clients range from VDOT and the Norfolk International Terminal, to numerous city governments, private developers and corporate entities. Branscome's strategic locations allow us to meet all of their needs quickly and effectively.

The Power of Experience

Our management staff are experts in the field, with an average of 20 years experience in the heavy construction industry. Many of them have hands-on experience, having worked their way up through the Branscome ranks. Their familiarity of the entire construction process is a powerful tool in successful project completion.

Our large on-site workforce is also highly skilled and well-trained in safety and the use of sophisticated, modern construction equipment. With extensive experience in the public and private sectors, Branscome employees have first-hand knowledge of government regulations and standards.

The Importance of Savings

On time. On budget. Those four little words translate into major client savings - in time, in resources, in money. We count on our advanced Critical Path Method (CPM) computerized scheduling to ensure jobs are correctly projected even before work begins. Manpower, materials, and specialized equipment needs are calculated, allowing us to allocate resources effectively. The result? Branscome goes the extra mile, consistently completing projects on time, without compromising quality or incurring unnecessary additional fees.

A Reputation of Excellence

The primary focus of our construction division lies in VDOT highway construction, port development, and other Commonwealth of Virginia infrastructure projects. However, Branscome also specializes in large civil projects such as residential subdivisions, retail malls, and distribution facilities. The flexibility of our utility and construction divisions allows full scheduling control.

Despite our large-scale capabilities, Branscome has a reputation of bringing quality, dependability, and a strong sense of customer service to every single job we complete. Our clients, whether they are general contractors, developers, government organizations or private companies, recognize our tradition of excellence by repeatedly relying on Branscome for all of their heavy construction needs.
