Our Story

Columbia Electrical Incorporated was established in 1984 and acquired in May 1999 by David and JoAnne Scruggs. Columbia was purchased with the desire to create a company that carries out valued family traditions, such as hard work, loyalty, and dependability. Using these core values, Columbia has carried out many successful projects across the East Bay and Northern California.

Since 1999, Columbia has tripled in size and opened up branches in San Joaquin and Contra Costa County. Experience and knowledge is instilled in our culture to ensure Columbia’s reputation for excellence. Our culture focuses on employees, contributes to the community, and upholds family values. It is these values that enabled Columbia to expand our territory throughout Northern California.

Columbia was proud to accept the 2006 EUCA Safety and Emergency Preparedness Award in the category of 25,001 – 75,000 man-hours. This award acknowledged Columbia having no workdays lost to injury. At Columbia, all employees are instructed in pre-cautionary safety measures. Also, employees are encouraged to continue their education in their field of expertise. Our success is due in large part to our professional and experienced work force that has a combined 100 plus years experience in the various trades we conduct on a day to day basis.
