Our Story

CPF has demonstrated great expertise in the design and installation of thermal distribution and transmission lines including steam, HTHW and chilled water, as well as have a record of many successful projects in both the private and public sectors. Great emphasis is given to the field survey aspects of the design work including close coordination with all other utility owners and operators and research of all available archive utility drawings and maps. In developing profiles, test pitting of existing parallel and transferring utilities along  the intended path of the new installation is performed by means of vacuum excavation. Once all this information is obtained, the optimum corridor for installation is established and the project continues with the installation. The survey and design aspect of the project assures a more successful installation process with minimal delays and conflicts.

CPF Underground Utilities, Inc. is a Maryland corporation formed in November, 1978 by Charles Frederick, President, and Glenn Whitney, Vice President. Both have had extensive experience in the utility construction previous to the formation of CPF. We are proud of our low employee turnover rate and are pleased to be able to state that we have assembled very experienced and talented workers who have worked for CPF for years, many since the company’s inception in 1978.

CPF is very proud of our record and reputation in the thermal distribution industry. We feel we are a leader in this market, a market that is growing and one that is recognizing the importance of this company’s design and installation/construction expertise, and it’s track record. We have enclosed our project listing for your review and urge you to make inquiries to the owners of the projects for references. We hope this site will serve to introduce you to our company and make you aware of the services we have to offer you. We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you on any upcoming projects and look forward to working with you in the future.
