With a forklift and a torch, Paul Carling began selling steel in 1992 from a yard in Norcross, Georgia. He had no office, no warehouse, no employees, only a dream.

In 1996, Paul’s college roommate and closest friend, Brian Satisky joined Paul on his journey to success. While Paul made deliveries in a beat up truck, Brian stayed on the yard, cutting steel with an old torch and loading customers with an even older forklift. In 1997, Paul and Brian hired their first employee, someone to work in the yard to allow Brian time to make cold calls to drum up more business. They continued hiring employees to join their team, bought new equipment and moved into a warehouse. 

In 2004, SteelMart opened a second location in Gainesville, Georgia. As business continued to grow, Brian and Paul began building a bigger facility. In 2006, construction was completed on a new 20,000 square foot service center in Doraville, Georgia. Over the next six years, SteelMart’s business boomed and they outgrew their warehouse in Doraville. In 2012, SteelMart purchased a 60,000 square foot state of the art service center in Tucker, Georgia.

With a team of over 100 employees and three warehouses, Paul and Brian stay true to the roots of the company, never forgetting what SteelMart came from.
