Scope Of Work

The NERC Middlesex Solar One, solar array consist­ing of approximately 9,000 thin film solar panels situated on 26 acres of the closed and capped Edgeboro Landfill, converted a previously unusable area of the landfill into a major green energy gener­ating facility. Design and construction of the solar array was unique and more challenging then typical Greenfield solar  in that it had to incorporate and work in harmony with all the needs required of a Title 5 landfill, develop a proprietary racking technology to work on the side slopes of the landfill as well as being cost effective. Meeting the needs of the landfills regulatory requirements, existing environments infrastructure and landfills continued ability to be easily maintained were some of the primary design requirements and the solarproject needed to meet. Edgeboro International was a development partner and a key component within the research, development and construction team of the solar project. Newkirk Electric was selected as the EPC contractor during construction and subcontracted Edgeboro International to perform the environmental, site work and the installation of the rack system, anchors and approximately 9000 ENN North America 500 watt thin film solar panels.  The ENN North America 500 watt thin film solar panels are the largest panels installed in the United States. The panels now produce 3.9 mw (AC) of electrical energy which is fed into the PJM grid to power area homes and businesses.
