James Devling's Bio
James N. Devling is Chief Financial Officer of Chalmers Corporation and has been involved in the building industry from his early years. Mr. Devling’s first introduction to the building industry was through working in his family’s building supply business as a teenager and later working for a general contractor until he entered college.
After graduating Cum Laude from the University of Pittsburgh, Mr. Devling gained employment with Pennwood Construction Company a medium-sized high-end custom home contractor as a project manager. His responsibilities gradually increased until he was responsible for the majority of construction operations for the company as well as all development entitlement responsibilities.
In January of 1988, Mr. Devling was accepted into the University of Rochester’s prestigious Simon School of Business. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1989 gaining a master in business administration with a concentration in finance.
After graduating from business school Mr. Devling moved to Southern California to take employment with Inland Empire Healthcare, as a real estate finance consultant. Acquiring and developing real property for the California-base HMO he gained invaluable experience in the California real estate market.
Advancing his career, Mr. Devling accepted a position as Controller for Chase Realty Group where he was responsible for the financial management of the large real estate management and development company.
In 1994 Mr. Devling accepted the position of Finance Manager of Chevron Land and Development Company, the real estate subsidiary of Chevron U.S.A. He was responsible for the financial management of Acquisition and Disposition Division of CL&D, a $260MM Division. Chevron U.S.A. Management ordered the sale of CL&D’s assets in the summer of 1995, and Mr. Devling played a crucial role in the dissolution of the assets of Chevron Land & Development Company by early summer of 1996.
In June of 1997, Mr. Devling accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer of Chalmers Corporation, where he is responsible for the financial well-being and vision of the company.
Trace Chalmers's Bio
Trace Chalmers is the president of Chalmers Corporation, Chalmers Equity Group and has been in the industrial real estate business for the past 18 years. Mr. Chalmers was born and raised in Arcadia, California and graduated in 1979 from Arcadia High School. Mr. Chalmers then attended the University of California at Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.). He graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. While at U.C.L.A. Mr. Chalmers held several positions with local real estate investment and development companies, identifying properties and coordinating the entitlement process.
Upon graduation from U.C.L.A., Mr. Chalmers was employed by Heger Realty Corporation, one of Los Angeles leading industrial real estate brokers, managementand development companies. During Mr. Chalmers’ seven year tenure, he concentrated on properties in the industrial areas South-East of Los Angeles including the communities of Commerce, Vernon, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs and Cerritos. Mr. Chalmers’ primary focus was working on new industrial developments and the remodeling and retrofitting of larger, older buildings.
To capitalize upon his development experience, Mr. Chalmers began the Chalmers Equity Group, in January 1988. Chalmers Equity Group began developing industrial projects and low income, multi-family housing. As the market changed, development became difficult, so Mr. Chalmers entered into a partnership with one of his primary building contractors and began Chalmers & Zolg Construction in 1990. Chalmers & Zolg Construction focused on industrial building construction, renovation and tenant improvement projects. In December 1992 Mr. Chalmers purchased the assets of the partnership and began the Chalmers Corporation, under the d.b.a. C.E.G. Construction. Since 1992, C.E.G. Construction has completed several hundred projects making it one of the leading industrial building contractors in the Los Angeles area. Chalmers Equity Group has also continued to identify industrial build to suit and development projects and has numerous projects under construction and currently available.

Richard Lucas's Bio
Richard Lucas is Chief Estimator/Sales Associate of Chalmers Corporation d.b.a. C.E.G. Construction. The building is a passion for Mr. Lucas. He has been involved in the construction industry most of his life. He began in construction while at Magnolia High School in Anaheim where he became involved in a construction technology program and was the Teachers Aid at the night school woodworking classes during his junior and senior years of high school. Mr. Lucas graduated from Fullerton College in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and Construction Management.
After graduation, Mr. Lucas was employed by Krouse Builders, a family owned construction company that specialized in custom homes and light commercial development. There he gained his field knowledge and experience in aspects of construction. In 1980, he started Lucas Construction a company, specializing in residential additions and industrial projects. After successfully designing and completing the construction of a bus yard in the City of Vernon, Richard was offered the position of Building Inspector in 1982. In 1987, he became the Senior Building Inspector. During Lucas’ nineteen-year tenure, he developed an invaluable knowledge of the building codes, industrial buildings, and operations.
Mr. Lucas has been involved with the International Conference of Building Officials (I.C.B.O.) during the past twenty years and is currently the President of the Los Angeles Basin Chapter I.C.B.O. He has been instrumental in researching, negotiating, and coordinating numerous seminars related to improving the knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing building codes in Southern California.
In January of 2002, Mr. Lucas accepted the position of Chief Estimator / Sales Associate of Chalmers Corporation, where his positive attitude, professional knowledge, and passion for the building have been a valuable asset to the company.
