Scope Of Work
The Consumers Energy Royal Oak service center was built in the 1950’s and needed a major renovation in order to keep the building up-to-date and to accommodate the growth occurring within Consumers Energy.
CCC was selected by Consumers Energy as the general contractor for the three phased upgrade project which consisted of the total interior demolition and renovation of the two-story service center and garage, along with the complete demolition of a heavy equipment garage that was a 74-foot by 55-foot addition years before. The size of the upgrade included 44,500 square feet on the first floor, 29,000 square feet on the second floor, a 34,550-square-foot garage and a 19,000-square-foot indoor parking area. Also all mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems were replaced, and a new Caterpillar facility generator was included.
As general contractor, CCC managed 35 subcontractors on the project and self-performed all concrete foundations, flatwork and carpentry work. Upon completion, CCC and their subcontractors worked over 16,500 man-hours without incurring a single recordable safety incident.
