Pacific West Builders

Pacific West Builders was established in 1982 as a partnership comprised of Patricia Romero and her husband, Dennis Ord. Upon Mr. Ord’s death in 1998, Patricia assumed full control of Pacific West Builders. The firm was reorganized as a sole proprietorship and subsequently incorporated as a Subchapter S corporation in 2003.

Recognizing that strategic planning was necessary for the new organization, Pat formulated a growth plan which identified an expansion into public works contracting as the most feasible arena for growth. She obtained certification for the company as an 8(a) contractor, a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), and a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), allowing entrance into the federal contracting arena through the set aside programs relative to the certifications. The company also located its main corporate office in a HUBZone and Business Enterprise Zone, allowing entrance into an additional set aside program for federal contracting as well as giving certain tax advantages. Having the corporate offices in a hubzone area also helps improve the living standards of those living and working within the hubzone areas by providing job opportunities and increase the tax revenue for the area.

Pacific West Builders is the holder of 4 Navy Multiple Award ConstructionContracts (MACC) and 1 California Air National Guard MATOC. A MACC and MATOC is a short list of pre-approved contractors who were awarded contracts to participate in a designated funding pool for specific types ofconstruction projects within a given region and within a specific dollar size range. The MACC’s pr MATCO’s are assigned funding caps for their lifetime, typically 5 years. The program is finished upon reaching its funding capacity or when its program period has expired, whichever shall first occur. Projects are issued as task orders under the basic MACC or MATOC contract and the awarded list of pre-approved contractors are the only ones eligible to compete for those projects.
