Michael Marra, Inc.

Michael A. Marra started the business as a General Contracting Company in 1958 based out of Newark, NJ, specializing in building construction with the emphasis on aesthetic finishes.

In 1961, the company became incorporated with a registered trade name of Michael Marra Inc. and relocated their offices to Scotch Plains, NJ as a building and site contractor.  Mr. Marra developed a self contained construction company specifically providing service to the Petroleum Industry.  His craftsmanship soon grew a vast clientele list consisting of many major Oil Companies such as Getty Oil, BP, Shell, Texaco, Exxon/Mobil and Kimber Petroleum and proudly still servicing today.In 1978 Michael J. Marra graduated from NJIT with a degree in Civil Engineering and joined his father in running the company.  Over the next several years, the business grew, expanding the construction field for such clients as Quick Foods, Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds Corporation.  In 1993, he relocated the business to the current location of Cliffwood Beach, NJ to better facilitate our services and reduce response time to our clientele.In 2002, Richard Marra became President of the company expanding the contracting services into the NY state market and adding clients like Colgate Palmolive and WalMart to their list.

Our vision has taken us from single story buildings to multi-story office complexes, bulk heavy industry, storage plants, commercial marina construction and brought us into new geographical territories due to our high quality standards in craftsmanship.

Michael Marra Inc. continues to be a Safety leader in the industry and is committed to providing a safe, productive work environment for its employees and to protect our client’s properties in a sensitive industry.  To meet this commitment, Michael Marra Inc. has adopted mandatory policies for all its employees.  These policies consist of drug and alcohol testing, O.S.H.A. certified training, C.P.R. certified training, in-house 40 hour equipment training, utility mark-out, API worksafe, LEEDs awareness, monthly safety meetings and personal protective equipment, issued to each individual.  Michael Marra Inc. has learned through the years, that safety starts only when an individual thinks before he/she acts, thus, knowledge is the basic ingredient to our growth.
