Our Story

“Since 1979, BTC has built many types of buildings. Beginning in 2000 our single goal is being the Construction Manager for School Districts. We are good at what we do.”
Rick Thompson
Chief Executive Officer

“We are a service provider to the District, the Community, the Design Team, and the Subcontractors. Our management style keeps communication flowing among everyone involved. It allows me to be personally involved. When given the opportunity to be part of a team, we do our best to deliver a quality project meeting all expectations – opening schools on time every year.”
Sammy Martin
President

BTC: Building Tomorrow’s Campuses

Thirty four years ago, Buford-Thompson Company (BTC) was established. In 1979 the first job bid was put together on Rick Thompson’s kitchen table at home. There was no office. The first real office was a small three room building in Arlington, Texas.

Since then, BTC has been a team member on over 200 school facilities. We have successfully completed 70 projects with nine different Architectural firms using the Construction Manager-at-Risk delivery system. Among these 70 projects are 50 repeat client projects, an indicator of our ability to be a great benefit to any team.

In February 2012, BTC completed the move to the new office building in Fort Worth. The office is located on the Westside of Fort Worth at 1450 N. Jim Wright Freeway. The new BTC sign can be seen from the Freeway.

Along with the new office, BTC is pleased to announce changes in the management team:

Rick Thompson, previously the President of the company, is now the Chief Executive Officer;
Sammy Martin, previously the Vice President has been promoted to President; and
Dave Davenport has joined BTC as the Chief Financial Officer.

We take an active role in treating all aspects of a project as if the project was our very own – completing all of our projects on schedule for school occupancy. We are diligent stewards of a district’s property and money, taking advantage of every opportunity to ensure the school district gets the best possible value and quality.
