Our Story

Established in 1963, AlarmSouth began as Lake Norman Security Patrol (LNSP). The company was founded by Ralph C. Brown, who later went on to become the first president of the North Carolina Alarm Association and an appointee designated by Governor Jim Hunt to serve in the first North Carolina Alarm System Licensing Board (which oversees the licensing and registration of security installation professionals).

By the mid-1970s, Mr. Brown launched Security Central, an alarm monitoring station to service the home security, business security, and personal emergency response customers of LNSP. Security Central continues to be one of the largest and leading independent monitoring facilities in the U.S.

Today, AlarmSouth proudly maintains its family ownership. The company employs more than 200 people, and has been ranked as one of the top security companies in the nation by leading trade publications.

Among the crowded landscape of the home security industry, our company stands out with distinctions such as:

- Member, NC Burglar and Fire Alarm Association

- Member, National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association

- State of NC bonded and licensed employees (12-CSAA)

Plus, our professional sales and installation experts are certified by the National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET) and trained by the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. Each of our employees has passed a thorough criminal background check, and we are fully bonded and insured.

At AlarmSouth, we offer specialized control systems for new construction and existing homes and businesses. We invite you to let us show you how we earned our reputation for outstanding installation, monitoring and servicing custom security solutions during a complimentary, no-obligation security analysis.
