Our Story

Mainstay Engineering Group, Inc. (Mainstay) is a fast-growing firm offering structural design, civil design and land development services to owners, manufacturers, developers and design professionals. The company was founded on the belief that our group of highly talented individuals' trained in multiple disciplines of civil and structural engineering provides exceptional service.   Mission Statement The purpose of Mainstay is to become the preferred provider of civil and structural consulting engineering services. Utilizing a unique, multi-disciplined thought approach, we strive to bring value to the project by anticipating the client’s needs and support the team members. Company History As Mainstay celebrates 15 years in business, we reaffirm our commitment to our clients by providing creative design, cost efficient and exceptional service.  Applying state-of-the-art techniques, utilizing the latest technology and our vast industry knowledge, we have proven the ability to find the optimal solution for each project. Mainstay, founded in 2002 by Matthew E. Hilbush, P.E. has grown to over 25 design professionals and 2 office locations.  The firm began with a niche identity in the pharmaceutical sector providing civil and structural services for projects such as stainless steel platforms, mechanical mezzanines, and roof-top equipment support.  In 2003, William J. DiCarlo, P.E. joined the firm as a Principal and Owner, bringing his strong technical background in the pharmaceutical, petrochemical and heavy industrial industries.  Mainstay steadily grew, completing larger scale projects including grass-roots buildings, envelope expansions, major renovations, facility site development and master planning.  Leveraging experience from the pharmaceutical industry, Mainstay successfully expanded their services into the education, commercial/retail, municipal, government/military, healthcare, and petrochemical industries.  We are very proud of the multiple industries we now serve, our ability to provide efficient services for projects of varying scales, and our long-standing client relationships. Our Project Approach We inspire to integrate the latest in proven technology with exceptional design to provide solutions that are: sustainable, simple, flexible, efficient and safe.  Our success can be attributed to the hands-on approach of our principals as well as the experience level of our staff.  We continually invest in the training and development of our team members.  All Mainstay employees are highly specialized and have broad ranges of ability.  Our clients benefit by having a single-point contact person who can problem-solve across several design areas with knowledge of the needs of other design team members (architectural, mechanical and electrical).  Our relationships with clients are based on trust, integrity and ultimately successful projects.  Repeat business with clients is confirmation that we are not just meeting, but exceeding their needs and requirements.      Sustainability ?The best engineers raise the bar when it comes to sustainability. Our integrated team has decades of experience developing inspired, context-sensitive design and engineering solutions that meet or exceed sustainable goals. Our certified personnel provide U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED green building rating system experience to designers, builders, operators and owners who want to build green and maximize both economic and environmental performance. Mainstay addresses LEED performance standards across several aspects of the design process.
