Scope Of Work

Broadway Avenue in the City of Albert Lea needed revitalizing. The city wanted to have the ultimate design built with the basic concepts developed in their 2010 Streetscape Master Plan, with modifications to address concerns expressed by the downtown business community, city staff, and city council. Many business owners were concerned about the extensive landscaping included. The associated maintenance, loss of parking, potential special assessment costs, and the impact to businesses during construction were of concern.

Bolton & Menk worked with business owners and community members to modify the master plan to a more manageable and sustainable design solution. The revitalized Broadway Avenue created an environment for people to gather in the downtown area and visit businesses and encouraged new business. Streetscape plazas were also incorporated to serve the active community with a safe and efficient space.
