A $100 investment by a college student in Toledo, Ohio, in 1974, planted the seed from which has grown one of the most successful garage door and automatic gate system companies in the country, located right here in Southwest Florida. When George Ebel, CEO of Action Automatic Door & Gate, made that investment, little did he realize what the ultimate payoff would be. Ebel placed a $100 ad in the local newspaper offering 13 automatic door openers; they were all sold and installed. This was the beginning of a company whose business philosophy included exceptional customer service, with a sharp focus on customer needs and satisfaction. That philosophy also features direct access to all management personnel by phone or e-mail and it’s a credo that continues to this day.

In 1981, after seven years of dramatic growth in Toledo, the decision was made to add a second location. Naples, FL, was chosen as the perfect setting, since it combined a great climate with a rapidly expanding business environment. Utilizing the same business tenets that were so successful in Toledo, Action Automatic Door & Gate welcomed its first customers. With the addition of a third location in Ft. Myers in 1984, Action began serving the counties of Charlotte, Lee, and Collier on a daily basis which includes Naples, Marco Island, Goodland, Everglades City, Bonita Springs, Estero, Ft. Myers, Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel Island, Captiva, Cape Coral, Pine Island, Lehigh Acres, Labelle, North Ft. Myers, Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte. Its customer-friendly strategy has worked so well that Action was ranked #16 in the International Door Association’s Top 100 door dealer survey in 2004.
