Spragues’ Ready Mix was founded in 1927, when most of the Los Angeles Basin still consisted of orange groves and cattle ranches, but the city was beginning to take the form that we know today. We are proud to have been part of the growth of industries that helped the Los Angeles region weather the Great Depression of the 1930s.

During the post-war boom of the 1950s and 1960s, concrete contractors and those from other LA Basin communities came to depend on Spragues’ Ready-Mix for supplies and advice on creating unique stamped concrete designs and stained concrete to make for greater visual appeal for the many housing developments that were created for growing families.

In the 1980s, the city government lifted restrictions on the height of buildings in Los Angeles. This created even more demand from concrete contractors in the region and allowed new building technologies and techniques over the next few decades.
