Our Story

SK&A provides a comprehensive suite of structural engineering services, including design of new construction, renovations and expansions, repair and restoration consulting, as well as construction materials testing and inspection.  SK&A’s Repair & Restoration (R&R) Division offers remarkable experience and depth-of-knowledge in materials, restoration, structural repair, structural strengthening techniques, and building envelope repair.

Testing & Inspection services are a part of the Structural Repair & Restoration Division of SK&A.  Related services include field monitoring of structural construction work, specialty concrete testing, and field and laboratory testing of construction materials.  Led by Charles Mitchell, Director of Testing & Inspection, our personnel are fully trained, experienced, and certified under the appropriate WACEL, PTI, ACI, AWS, ICRI and ICC inspector or technician categories.

Our inspectors are very familiar with structural engineering procedures and effectively communicating required corrections as well as owner-directed changes before they are built into the structure.  They are uniquely qualified to provide prompt responses to contractors’ field questions, expedite corrective measures to address construction errors or variances in the contract documents, help build and maintain communication and positive working relationships with the contractor, and minimize misinterpretation of the structural design intent.
