Our Story
JRW Construction was founded in 1976 by John Whittam in Big Bear Lake, CA. While attending UC Irvine he worked on historical houses in Redlands and commenced contracting in south Orange County after completing college 1984. 1989 he moved back to the San Bernardino mountains concentrating on hillside and structural foundation work in Crestline and Lake Arrowhead. Shortly after the 1994 Northridge earthquake, he was summoned to work on previous clients homes where he was exposed soils and underpinning methods. In 1996 JRW Foundation-Systems (JRWFS) was formed and became Certified by A.B.CHANCE as a dealer and installing contractor, underpinning numerous homes around Lake Arrowhead, including Charles J. Pankow Jr.'s residance and the Arrowhead Lake Association main office.
2004 was JRWFS's first Nordstrom's seismic upgrade at South Coast Plaza utilizing electric equipment with Riverside and Santa Barbara to soon follow. These projects assisted in perfecting the Helical Pulldown Micropile and combined with other methods, JRWFS has been involved in numerous design build seismic and deep foundation projects to include: LAX Theme Bldg., LA Museum of Natural History, LA County Sheriff's Biscailuz Training Center, Alex Theater, Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, Lexus of Cerritos, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Stater Brothers, Lido Marina Village, Santa Ana River Intersection project (SARI) and numerous Cell Towers throughout California.
JRWFS has expanded their services to include design build for: limited access caisson drilling, slope stabilization, soil retention, soil nails, tie-backs, shoring / lagging, LoDrill services, Hollow Bar, Drifting, Micropiles (DTH/casing to 12") all with in house drilling, mixing, grouting and pumping services.
