Scope Of Work

Prior to purchasing this 1940s home, the prospective homeowners described it (with a chuckle) as "the ugliest house they ever saw . . . with incredible potential!" The new owners hired Archwood to completely gut the house down to the studs, reconfigure the interior, and add an additional 70 square feet. It was important to the homeowners that the house be thoroughly modernized while maintaining the 1940s character of the home. We carefully removed original trim and later reused it throughout the house. Red oak floors were saved, and we located sources for reclaimed flooring that closely matched the color and quality of the existing flooring. Pine paneling from the den was reused as wainscoting in the dining room. The homeowners gave Archwood Building Company a perfect score in homeowner satisfaction! The finished product was featured in New Homes & Ideas Magazine and won a Gold Medal in the Best Whole-House Renovation Category of The Raleigh-Wake County Home Builders Association and Remodelors' Council S.T.A.R. Awards in 2002.
