PAST

In 1973, Phillip Markwood Architects, Inc. begins a practice in Columbus, Ohio based on quality, personal service, and design excellence.  The first commission is an award winning Christian Elementary School which creates a precedent for work that invariably demonstrates respect for users, sensitivity to the environment, and responsibility to maximize available resources.  The firm emerges as a general practice destined to complete a wide variety of public and private sector projects including facilities for religious, educational, institutional, office, commercial, and residential purposes.  The culture of the firm is rooted in making contributions that advance the profession and society.

PRESENT

Phillip Markwood Architects, Inc. is an AIA Ohio Gold Medal Firm.  The honor is the embodiment of sustained design excellence and professional service.  The work continues to evolve in scope, complexity, and variety.  The architecture, often an addition and renovation, manifests the values of making respectful connections and creating a sense of unity.  The process is creative and collaborative, using multi-disciplined teams to engage and serve clients with programming, planning, architectural and interior design, construction documents, and construction administration.  The firm is distinguished by attention to detail and its commitment to realize the aspirations of every owner.  The firm invests the assets of maturity and expertise in the success of those who determine, build, and use the projects we design.
