Our Story

Commercial and Industrial Epoxy / Urethane / Polymer Flooring Installation in Florida with DIAMOND GRIND and SHOTBLAST SURFACE PREP. Moisture Mitigation, Quartz/Flake Epoxy, FLOOR JOINTS, POLISHED CONCRETE, TILE/VCT/GLUE REMOVAL.

The flooring in your commercial or industrial building is much more than just a foundation the building sits on, it may actually be one of the most important physical aspects of your entire business. In a commercial enterprise, your floor is the workplace that everything in your business flows upon, the surface that everything depends on to be able to move around on and operate efficiently. Therefore, its condition uniquely affects every aspect of your business, as well as your bottom line. Industry case studies show time and time again that poorly installed, damaged or poorly maintained flooring can exponentially affect operating and equipment repair expenses, increase workplace injuries and decrease productivity.

Whether it's new construction or existing, the bottom line is your flooring has to be in good condition for your business to function at its best, to keep repairs costs and injuries down, and to protect your bottom line from being affected by avoidable operating expenses.

With over 20 years of experience and over a million dollars worth of specialized, industrial-scale equipment, Florida Epoxy Flooring is an industry-recognized leader in epoxy and urethane flooring system installations. For new construction, Florida Epoxy Flooring will be able to advise you on the most suitable type of epoxy or urethane system for your unique application and install it beautifully. For existing floors, Florida Epoxy Flooring can evaluate, repair and prepare your existing flooring surfaces for installation, then quickly and beautifully install your new epoxy or urethane flooring.

Epoxy and urethane systems are a widely-used and extremely popular option for industrial resinous floors. Today there are a wide variety of different epoxy and urethane flooring systems available, each with different properties and each suitable for different industrial or commercial uses.

Applied over a regular concrete floor, these seamless surfaces offer many aesthetic options and benefits for industrial and commercial buildings. As well as being beautiful to look at, epoxy and urethane flooring systems are highly durable and resistant to chemicals, UV, microbes and temperature extremes. This makes them an ideal choice for all types of heavy use industrial applications, from air hangars and parking decks to manufacturing plants, fire houses or schools. Let's take a look at the different types of systems available.

TYPES OF EPOXY AND URETHANE FLOORING:

Epoxy Thin Film

Epoxy Thin Film coatings are some of the most economical industrial floorings to use in commercial and industrial applications. Thin film coatings floorings consist of a thin coat of epoxy resin that is applied over concrete that protects the concrete and provides a tough, clean looking and easily maintained surface. Epoxy Thin Films are suitable for light industrial use, both in terms of traffic and chemical exposures. These floorings are available in a variety of colors to suit your unique application.

Epoxy Quartz

Epoxy Quartz flooring is a decorative type of epoxy flooring involving several layers of clear epoxy resin with colored quartz sand is embedded in it for decorative purposes. These layers are covered with a high gloss, chemical resistant, clear top-coat for for maximum durability and protection. Epoxy quartz floors are chemical, stain and abrasion resistant and have extremely low levels of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, meeting the most stringent low-VOC requirements.

Epoxy Vinyl Flake

Epoxy Vinyl Flake flooring is a decorative type of epoxy flooring that is available in an wide variety of different colors to suit any project. Epoxy Vinyl Flake flooring consists of a layer of epoxy resin in which colored vinyl flakes are embedded, and these layers are covered by a high gloss, chemical resistant clear top-coat for protection. For even more options, Epoxy Vinyl Flake flooring is available in many different textures.

Methyl Methancrylate (MMA)

MMA is a unique, quick-curing type of acrylic resin which makes it one of the quickest resin flooring options to install, with full curing times of only 1-2 hours. Installing an MMA floor is a great option if you are in a business where must resurface your floor quickly, with a minimal down-time for your business and need a rapid return to service. Once installed, MMA floors are resistant to UV light, weak acids and alkalis and moderately resistant to solvents.

Urethane Concrete (Ucrete)

Urethane Concrete or Ucrete® is a heavy duty polyurethane flooring system that is perfect for the most demanding of industrial environments and is highly durable. Urethane Concrete usually outperforms epoxy flooring in terms of being able to resist high impacts without chipping or cracking and resisting thermal shock, with the ability to withstand temperature extremes from sub-freezing to up to 248F. Urethane Concrete can be installed with smooth, textured or even anti-static finishes, in a variety of different colors.

For environments where cleanliness is paramount, Urethane Concrete is ideal because it withstands all types of industrial cleaning, including steam cleaning and even the most aggressive detergents.

CONTROLLING MOISTURE WITH A QUALITY MOISTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM

It is impossible to make concrete that does not include at least some moisture, but moisture can also invade concrete from below the slab after installation and it is vitally important to know the amount of moisture that is in your concrete flooring. We are able to determine the amount of moisture in a concrete floor by measuring its Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER), which is the speed at which the moisture travels up through the concrete slab and is emitted into the building. Coating delamination due to high MVER is the largest known failure in coatings to concrete, with improper surface prep the second most common failure of coatings.

To prevent this, a specialty epoxy-based moisture mitigation system can be topically applied to the concrete to act as a barrier to this moisture, therefore reducing the MVER. The resins in these epoxy-based systems are specifically designed to tolerate the high moisture, high pH environments that are typically found when concrete has a high MVER. These systems are more expensive than standard epoxy floors.

Florida Epoxy Flooring is highly experienced in applying these moisture mitigation systems to control a site with a high MVER and protect the coating from delamination. We will be glad to advise you on the most appropriate type of system for your particular building and MVER situation.
