Our Story

With more than 30 years of experience in the field, Lettire Construction Corporation is well-known in New York City’s multi-family housing sector. In its early years, Lettire Construction developed a strong reputation for doing elegant interior renovations in restaurants and high-scale residences, but has since evolved into a well-rounded organization with a solid record of experience in both market rate oriented and mixed-income housing. Along the way, Lettire Construction has built strong relationships with leaders all through the industry – private and not-for-profit developers, financial institutions, government agencies, design and engineering professionals, as well as the whole range of subcontractors and suppliers.

Lettire Construction has become active in the movement, spearheaded both by the City and the private sector, to increase the supply of mixed-income and affordable housing in the five boroughs. Nicholas Lettire and Gerard Lettire co-founded Lettire Construction in 1979. They believe in a “hands-on” approach to construction, which must be applied equally to very high-end interior residential work as well as to institutional supportive housing projects. They adopted this approach as they came up through the ranks learning the trades of carpentry and painting. Nicholas Lettire remains intimately involved in all aspects of construction, from the initial bidding process through day-to-day supervision to final completion. This personal commitment to each project drives what Nicholas Lettire believes should be the value proposition for a successful construction practice: to consistently deliver a high-quality product that creates real value for its customers. Their industry knowledge and ability to be effective construction team managers provides a solid foundation to this development team.

Lettire Construction Corp has been a constant in the East Harlem Community as an owner, developer, builder and employer. Lettire Construction’s headquarters are based in East Harlem where they run business operations for current construction projects and its growing real-estate development department. The presence in East Harlem creates local jobs for employees and promotes business with subcontractors and vendors. Lettire Construction has an extensive knowledge of East Harlem actively participating in the economic rebuilding of the community showing the commitment to the East Harlem community.

Lettire Construction Corp serves the local New York City residents and businesses by building residential, commercial and institutional buildings. Lettire Construction has managed the construction of residential units for a variety tenants and owners from affordable to market rate housing. Lettire Construction serves the local population as a builder and business that provides jobs doing business with local subcontractors and vendors. The commitment to serve the needs of the public and private sector is evident with over $300M in the current construction pipeline.
