Scope Of Work
The Patio at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley was the first large outdoor venue project. From the onset, the project posed some challenges in performing the substantial scope of work, all while maintaining access to the businesses that were operating in the adjacent stores.
The project began by setting up temporary construction fence that both made the work area safe for pedestrians and maintained the necessary ADA compliant access to the businesses. The project, which was completed over the course of a 12-week period, included the demolition of approximately 7000 square feet of cement slabs, existing electrical, irrigation and sidewalks.
The new space would be constructed with colored concrete, two new trellis structures comprised of cantilevered custom steel and accented with Thermally Modified Wood, a wood burning gas assisted fire pit, a 45’ veneered stone sign wall, charging stations and a synthetic turf area.
The challenge of pedestrian safety, ADA conformity and access to operating businesses was easily traversed through coordination of subcontractor work, by WJK, to include after hours demolition and construction activities. A solid core of trusted subcontractors work to make all projects as unobtrusive as possible in an effort to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
The grand opening of The Patio occurred in fall of 2018 to much fanfare including a ribbon cutting ceremony, attendance by local media outlets and performances by local schools.
