Compton Construction

Compton Construction began forty years ago, when Columbus lumber salesman Harold Compton Sr. started his own residential construction company in 1974 primarily rough framing single-family homes. As Compton Construction grew, Harold’s son, Harold Jr. worked alongside his father to help the company grow and venture into commercial construction as well. Compton Construction not only worked all over central Ohio but also reach markets in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Eventually, the company that Harold Sr. built closed its doors in 1994 when Harold Sr’s entrepreneurial spirit led him into other business opportunities outside of construction.

Armed with the experience gained at Compton Construction, Harold Jr. embarked on a long career in the commercial construction industry. After stints with Equity Concepts Development & Continental Building Systems, he became a Partner and Vice-President of Brexton Construction.

It was there at Brexton that Blake Compton gained experience under his father, marking the third generation to follow the path of construction. As Blake gained experience at Brexton, that same innate desire and drive toward entrepreneurship demonstrated by Harold Sr. in 1974 pushed Blake to revive Compton Construction in 2012 —with a new focus on commercial construction that creates real impact on Columbus.

Blake and Harold Jr. spent 8 years together at Compton Construction, building and growing the company. Through the years they grew the team of employees, and the company’s ability to build large projects. In August of 2020, Harold unexpectedly passed, leaving a legacy of construction to carry on.

Today, we carry on that legacy. We remember the history and use it to mold our future. We have a responsibility to continue building and growing. Our story is not finished. We see future generations of builders, ready to put their finger prints on Columbus!
