Our Story

Dateline: Early 1900’s in Mt. Dora Florida. The original founders grew hemp to make rope for the United States Government Military Services. In the 1930’s the company started growing vegetable products, taking advantage of Florida’s warm, year-round growing season.

Improved turf grasses were introduced to the farm in the mid 1980’s. With determination, the company built its turfgrass distribution business on customer service and product availability. Keith Truenow, President and CEO, said of the company’s commitment to provide quality turf grasses, “We will always make significant improvements towards the production of quality turfgrasses at Lake Jem Farms. Quality products and product availability go hand-in-hand; you cannot provide one without the other.”

Currently the company’s operations fall into several service categories: Farm Production, Logistics, Customer Service, Trade Partner Support, Product Research, and Customer Product Knowledge Educational Planning.

Today, their professional employees, including a sales network of highly-trained turfgrass specialists, are dedicated to continually building relationships with long-time customers and prospects. The Lake Jem Farms Team works daily to distribute the highest quality turfgrass products by cultivating and strengthening these core relationships with customers and partners around the globe.
