My passion for residential building began nearly 30 years ago. My grandfather, father, and two uncles were contractors and I worked with them on their projects as soon as I was old enough to carry tools. I worked as a carpenter while I was attending college and received a BS degree in Construction Technology from Indiana State University in 1989.
Upon graduation I became a field superintendent for a builder/developer in northern Illinois. During my tenure I managed land development, budgeting, customer service, CAD design, and production. In 1994 I completed a Master Builder program through Northern Illinois University and finished my ten year career as the company’s Vice President of Operations.
Employment opportunities brought our family to Iowa in 1999 where I would manage the Eastern Division of Iowa’s largest home builder. Serving as Executive Vice President of Eastern Iowa for six years gave me invaluable experience in front office operations, sales and marketing, and home production.
The character of the people in the Midwest is known throughout the United States as being friendly, hardworking and honest. Nowhere are these values stronger than in Iowa. I appreciate living in an area that thrives on family values and community service. I am also thankful for the opportunity to volunteer in youth coaching and acting as chairman of the building committee for our church addition.
In the past 26 years I have overseen the construction of nearly 1200 homes in the Midwest. While this type of production building is fast paced and exciting, I felt a need to get back in touch with the fact that I enjoy building homes, not houses. I want to build a company that embodies all of the values of the Iowa people, and stands as solid as an old stone gate.
I have taken my combination of education and experience and coupled it with our love for the Midwest, where Quality and Integrity are honored, and founded Stonegate Custom Homes, Inc.
