Scope Of Work
Columbia University awarded Velez Organization a joint venture construction management contract for Center for Disease Prevention at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
The upgrades to the170,000-square-foot Center for Disease Prevention were extensive. The job included building 100,000 square feet of new laboratories, mechanical equipment, storage circulation space, a below grade concrete parking level, additional lobby support spaces, retail space a new conference center.
Each area of the facility included custom installations finishes. Exterior features included precast concrete panels, gray-green curtain wall, aluminum framed fronts metal panels, fixed aluminum framed windows, a central HVAC system an EPDM roof. Laboratory finishes consisted of sheet vinyl floors, gypsum walls acoustical ceilings. Lobby support space featured include terrazzo floors, plaster walls a steel perforated ceiling. The Conference Center finishes included carpeted floors, wood paneling trim.
