J & J Plumbing is equipped with one of the most valuable tools in the plumbing industry.  State of the art fiber optic cameras allow for a visual inspection of sewer lines and other piping.  Video images are transmitted to the camera operator and can be saved on CD for permanent record.  Video inspections can pinpoint the exact location of a problem, which allows for better evaluation of the situation.  Trouble spots can be cleared, often with cost savings over sewer pipe  replacement.   

When a drain is blocked, immediate diagnosis with a sewer inspection is imperative.  To find and identify a blockage J&J Plumbing & Drain professionals set up a video camera attached to a flexible cable.  The cable is threaded through the drain system from inside the home.  The homeowner can watch on a video screen as the camera is threaded through the drain.

Blockages in a drain or sewer line can be the result of grease buildup, kitchen or bathroom debris, tree roots or other trapped items.  Stoppages can also arise from camera identifiable problems, such as corroded, cracked and collapsed pipes, as well as age related erosion roots growing in the drain pipe.

The inspection can also identify damaged pipes or joints that have shifted over time, cracks or holes that are causing leaks,  and locating sections of plumbing pipes that need to be replaced.

Conventional Tank VS Tank-less Style Water Heaters

 Your water heater is the most under appreciated appliance you own.  We never give a thought to the water heater until the day that there is no hot water!  If it is time to replace your water heater, there are several options.  We install gas hot water heaters and electric hot water heaters.  There are several options for both sources of energy to provide for your hot water needs. 

 These water heaters fill with cold water which is heated by gas or electricity and held for later use.  Conventional tank water heaters have a lower initial purchase price.  The heating element runs throughout the day keeping the full tank of water at the desired temperature. 

If there is an electrical outage, you can still have hot water with a gas heated hot water tank.  Problems can occur with traditional tanks because they do run higher energy expenses.   When using a lot of hot water, with multiple showers, laundry, etc., an exhausted hot water supply means waiting for the tank to re-heat again.  Water that sits in a tank can cause some rust and corrosion of the tank, causing possible leaks.  A 10 year life span for a conventional water heater can be expected.

Tank-less heaters heat the water when you need it.  While having a more expensive initial cost, they use less energy because they are not keeping water heated around the clock but only when you turn on the hot water, saving you money in the long run.  There is no recovery time to replace hot water in the tank.  Without the tank, they take up less space in your home.  Because tank-less water heaters do not store water, there is no possibility of leaking or flooding.  The lifespan of a tank-less water heater is twice as long as conventional tank heaters.
