As evidence of Jim's misspent youth, he preferred Lincoln LogsTM to LEGO® sets. He has since overcome his predilection for all wood construction, possibly as a direct result of several years spent working in the trades. Armed with a degree in Building Construction from Texas A&M, Jim made the transition from the field to the office for construction of the Fiesta Texas theme park in San Antonio. In 1992, Jim joined Constructors & Associates, Inc.'s Austin office. Jim's experience at Constructors includes several years as Estimator/Project Manager, culminating in the position of Director of Estimating from 2001 to 2005. In this role he managed an annual volume of $50 to $80 million in public and private work, on medical facilities, aviation, commercial shell buildings and interiors, higher education, and public projects. These years provided Jim with extensive subcontractor relations throughout central Texas, upon which Jim founded AKA Builders in 2005. As owner, Jim is involved with all aspects of general construction for AKA Builders – estimating, purchasing, scheduling, on-site management and supervision.
