What We Do
Products and Services
Managers and Supervisors need adequate training to know when and how to confront an employee about a potential problem. Our engaging Reasonable Suspicion training for Supervisors meets the DOT requirements and will arm them with the tools necessary to recognize impairment, legally document, and avoid the potential legal complexities related to employee privacy. We can help your management teams and safety administrators understand both federal and client specific drug and alcohol mandates and regulations.
Why Live Training?
Supervisors are more apt to retain information learned when active participation and group discussion is encouraged. Being ENGAGED is the key! We combine an interesting and informative PowerPoint presentation with questions and group discussion, and then we introduce activities utilizing our drunk goggles. Class participants LOVE the activities because it brings an element of fun that they were not expecting.
OODT offers a kind of customer service that is often lost in the service industry. We believe in building relationships with our clients, not simply conducting “transactions”. Our DOT trained, and qualified collectors are all very personable and genuinely like people, which help them serve you better. They are trained to recognize behaviors that are common among those trying to cheat a drug test and their experience with people that are uncomfortable with the process has helped them formulate approaches that put people at ease, reducing long wait times for shy bladder scenarios. Our 24/7 service means less downtime for you and your workforce.
Onsite collections can save you TIME and MONEY. When factoring in your employee wages for travel and wait times, your drug test per person could be costing you more than you think. The trip to the clinic does make sense at times, but more often than not, our onsite service can be more beneficial. Give us a call and we can help assess your situation.
Onsite collections can help maintain the integrity of the drug testing process. When sending an employee offsite for a drug test, there is ample opportunity to try and cheat the test. Onsite drug testing services can help your drug and alcohol-free policy enforce and support a safe working environment.
Urine drug testing is the most frequently used method for drug testing and is by far the most flexible and customizable. With hundreds of different combinations of detectable drugs and cutoff levels, there is a urine test panel for almost any scenario.
Urine drug testing detects recent drug use and is the only testing method approved for federally-mandated testing at this time, however, oral fluid testing will soon be approved. Businesses can rely on lab-based urine testing for its cost-effectiveness, the capacity to screen for a variety of different drugs and ability to withstand most legal challenges.
Oral Fluid Testing is an innovative testing method that is quicker, more reliable, and less intrusive than urine testing methods. Testing 15-20 employees can take approximately an hour with urine drug testing methods, while that same number can be done in 15 -20 minutes using an Oral Fluid collection device. Cheating techniques that are common in urine testing are eliminated with Oral Fluid as the collections are observed and dilution tactics and adulteration products are ineffective.
Benefits of Oral Fluid Testing
- Collections are always observed to eliminate tampering
- Dilution and adulteration tactics prove ineffective
- Simple 5-minute collection, just swab, snap and seal
- No embarrassment for the donor or collector ?
We use only laboratories certified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the industry's benchmark certification program.
Breath alcohol testing devices measure how much alcohol is currently in the blood. The legal limit for being considered impaired by alcohol while driving is .08. However, the Department of Transportation guidelines mandates that a .04 positive alcohol test requires removal of an employee from driving or other safety-sensitive tasks. A .02 result, under DOT regulations, can require removal from tasks for a certain period of time.
Mandatory alcohol and drug testing are required by the United States Department of Transportation for some occupations and industries.
This mandatory testing includes trucking, aviation, maritime, pipeline, railroad, and transit employees in safety-sensitive occupations.
Employers outside the mandate of DOT testing typically use alcohol testing under specific circumstances:
- The employer may have a policy that tests when there is reasonable suspicion also known as probable-cause testing, and there are documented signs of possible alcohol or drug use by an employee.
- Post-accident testing occurs when there is suspected alcohol or drug use that caused a property damage or personal injury accident in the workplace.
- Random testing may be performed on an unannounced, unscheduled basis on employees who have been selected arbitrarily from a testing pool.
OODT breath alcohol technicians (BAT) only use Evidential Breath Testing (EBT) devices approved by the Department of Transportation.
Hair testing analyzes a hair sample for parent drugs and their metabolites. A hair specimen, collected from a donor's head or body, is sent to the laboratory and is screened for illicit substances.
What drugs can we test for with hair?
Our preferred lab can test for cocaine, marijuana, opiates (codeine, morphine & 6-acetylmorphine,), amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, MDA), and phencyclidine (PCP). The extended opiates panel adds oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone.
What time period does hair testing cover?
The typical length of head hair tested is 1 1/2 inches from the root end. Since the average growth rate of human head hair is approximately 1/2 inch per month a hair analysis covers an approximate 90 day time frame. This time frame is an approximation only since an individual's actual hair growth rate may vary from the average
Does hair color effect results?
Hair color is determined by the amount of melanin in the hair. It has been shown experimentally, through actual hair samples, as well as determined in court that hair color has no significant impact on results.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, drug abuse can cost business owners in the United States over $140 billion dollars a year (that includes the turnover rate for employees abusing drugs)
The U.S. Department of Labor has reported that drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace causes 65 percent of on-the-job accidents and that 38 percent to 50 percent of all workers' compensation claims are related to the abuse of alcohol or drugs in the workplace. Even with these staggering statistics, there are still companies that are not random drug testing.
If you conduct business in a state where recreational marijuana is legal and you wish to maintain a drug-free workplace, you still have that right however, your policy should clarify company expectations around safety, impairment, usage, and termination standards to avoid legal troubles. If you are a business owner struggling with how to handle the new laws, please contact us and we would be happy to consult with you.
A "true" random occurs when the employee is notified and can report immediately to be drug tested. Many companies put the integrity of their program in jeopardy when giving too much notice to an employee for a random drug test and then send them off site to complete the test. Our onsite services help you stay in compliance, keep your employees honest, end predictability, increase productivity and save money. Our collectors are professional, prompt and personable.
While we provide onsite collections, we partner with our preferred laboratory to offer clinics nationwide because we do recognize the need for that service as well.
Sitewide Random Testing
Occasionally there may be times when it is necessary to test everyone on a job site. Whether it be a requirement of a certain project or the unfortunate circumstance of reasonable suspicion or finding drugs/paraphernalia on the job site, OODT can mobilize quickly and meet that need, regardless of the size of your crew. We have accommodated over 1100 people in one morning.
We can walk your company through an organized system that will ensure minimal downtime and disruption to your workforce. Communication with the lead site safety people and/or corporate headquarters is optimum and company protocols strictly followed.
