Between 1993 and 2014, Shawn Scarlata, was a member of the Prince George’s County Police Department where he fulfilled many roles to include Patrol Officer, Investigator, and Executive Protection Specialist.  Shawn retired from the department in December 2014, after 22 years of service.

From 2009 to 2016, Shawn led a Washington, D.C. area based security guard company as one of it’s co-founders and Chief Executive Officer.  The company grew from $300k in annual revenue with approximately 25 employees to just under $7mm with over 300 employees. During Shawn’s tenure, the company was recognized three years in a row on the Inc500 List of Fastest Growing Companies in the U.S. and four years as one of Washington, DC’s top security firms in the Washington Business Journal.

In 2016, Shawn launched, SMART Security Pros, drawing on his 22 years of experience in law enforcement, as well as, eight years leading a guard service company to bring to market a service that will fundamentally change the future of the security industry.
