This medical office building consists of offices; exam and treatment rooms; and physical therapy, x-ray, bone density, and mammography facilities. American Constructors provided design assistance to the architect by providing an alternative envelope design. The result realized a $80,000 savings and shortened the schedule by four months.
The project was positioned between two existing operational facilities – a hotel and a 24-hour emergency facility. These facilities and the new clinic we were building shared a single main entrance that could not be closed at any time. This made traffic coordination an important piece of construction planning. In addition to the inability to shut the entrance down, the hotel’s driveway was to be reconstructed with new parking and driveways while maintaining traffic access. After many meetings and coordination with the neighboring properties, a three-phase sequence to maintain continuous access was developed and implemented.
