Scope Of Work
Project at PETCO Park consisted of Form-A-Tread installation on the staircase at the Landing seating complex in left center field. Steps had previously been painted black or yellow with topically applied grit. Grit did not last and peeling paint was unsightly.
Objective was to find a more long lasting solution to increase safety and increase visibility during night games, especially on the top and bottom step of each section of staircase.
Solution was to install two x 1" wide stripes of Form-A-Tread Safety Yellow to the top and bottom step of each section of staircase. This significantly increased the visibility and tactile advantage on these critical steps. Form-A-Tread BLACK was installed on all intermediate steps.
The steps were exterior, often wet, and experienced a large amount of pedestrian traffic so Tread Grit HD (Heavy Duty) was applied to further increase traction, achieving an impressive Static Coefficient of Friction (SCOF) value of 0.71, well above industry standards.
Form-A-Tread bonded permanently to the concrete steps with minimum surface preparation and even in the intense Southern California sun is expected to last more than 5 years.
